Cathy Lynn Giles-Cash died peacefully within her own home on Dec. 21,
2009. She was too young. At least those that knew her think so.
My mother had many faces; some private and others not so private... caring daughter, accepting sister, loving mother...however her very best face was that of a woman who lived her life for others. Wearing that particular face, the face of an angel, filled her heart with joy and peace that extended to all those around her. Her love ran deep, but it was always plainly on display for those around her to see.
My mother was a remarkable woman; a jack-of-all-trades she mastered all that she set her mind to. Her sheer drive for perfection and stubborn gumption were the keys to her success. In 1974 she was the first woman to graduate from Wofford College with a Biology degree. From there she went on to inspire countless others as a teacher, confidant and friend.
Now, her success wasn’t only academic. Most remember my Mother achieving excellence and great success within Avon; where she was a district manager for 20yrs.
There was no challenge that Mom couldn’t or wouldn’t take head on. That includes raising three children, Grayson Cash (the oldest), Terri L. Cash (me, the one in the middle), and Jessica Cash (the youngest). Mom used to say that we were the kids that became the three little miracles that kept her alive.
Cathy Lynn Giles-Cash is my mother and she was my saint. She lived fully and completely, but none of us that knew her will have felt we had enough time with her. She was a beautiful woman that made a tiny imprint upon other people's hearts. She will be missed; yet will not be forgotten. Mom stated, " Removing my selfish desires, love is simple. With me out of the way, love is. Given an opportunity, love comes into being. Without help, love can love." Cathy Cash 1979
